Jennifer Nguyen
Lawyer
Jennifer joined Platform Litigation as an articling student and stayed on as an associate lawyer after being called to the bar. She received her J.D. from the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia. She also received her undergraduate degree in Political Science from UBC.
During law school, Jennifer was a research assistant to Professor Alexandra Flynn, which included work on First Nations’ housing developments, encampments and homelessness across British Columbia, and the right to housing. Jennifer also served as a research assistant to the Honourable Lynn Smith, O.C., K.C., for a book chapter (Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, 6e, forthcoming) on section 15 of the Charter.
While participating in an internship program at the Provincial Court of British Columbia in Port Coquitlam and Surrey, Jennifer discovered her passion for criminal law and criminal defence, specifically. During this internship, she gained invaluable insight in various stages and areas of the legal process, including the trial process and the power of advocacy.
Jennifer has assisted clients at the outset of their arrest, conducted bail hearings, and sentencing hearings in provincial court. Jennifer has experience with trial matters in provincial court as well, assisting senior lawyers as well as preparing for her own trials.
